Student health center to open in Sunnyside

SUNNYSIDE -- A dedication ceremony will be held for the new John Hughes Student Health Center at Sunnyside High School.

The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, and will be followed by tours of the center and refreshments. The school is at 1801 E. Edison Ave., Sunnyside.

The building will be home to the district's mental and behavioral support services as well as its drug and alcohol prevention and intervention programs.

Medical services also will be provided through a partnership with Sunnyside Community Hospital.

The center is named for John Hughes, a former administrator in charge of drug and alcohol treatment for the district.
