A 1-year-old Benton City child died at a Seattle hospital after being found submerged under bath water Monday.
Piper K. Finkbeiner was taking a bath with a 2-year-old sibling when her mother left the bathroom briefly, authorities said.
When she returned, she found Piper under water.
Benton County sheriff's deputies were called to the home. Earlier this week, sheriff's officials said they were investigating the drowning.
The case has been sent to prosecutors for review of potential charges, Capt. Clay Vannoy said.
Piper's death doesn't change the investigation, but the potential charges could be different, he said Friday.
An account has been set up at Gesa Credit Union to help the family. Donations in Piper Finkbeiner's name can be made at any branch.
