An Atomic Cities Peace Memorial ceremony will be held by World Citizens for Peace at 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the John Dam Plaza across from the Federal Building in Richland.
The ceremony is planned for the anniversary of the bombing of Nagasaki, Japan, 67 years ago using plutonium produced at Hanford. It also marks the 30th anniversary of World Citizens for Peace.
Songs, speeches and prayers are planned along with the ringing of the Bell of Peace, a gift from the mayor of Nagasaki to the people of Richland. It will be rung in memory of Americans who died at Pearl Harbor and Japanese who died at Nagasaki.
