The National Weather Service has predicted a high of 103 today for the Tri-Cities and has issued a red flag warning for critical wildfire danger in eastern Washington, eastern Oregon and northern Idaho.
Wednesday's high temperature is expected to reach 97, with a low of 67 and a 10 percent chance of precipitation.
And while the high temperature each day is forecast to be in the mid-90s, the chance of precipitation in the Mid-Columbia through Sunday is listed at zero percent.
That is why the weather service warns dry lighting from scattered thunderstorms could ignite dry grass and shrubs. Forecasters say strong winds, relatively low humidity and warm temperatures create the potential for explosive fire growth.
