Money from dog fashion show today to go toward shelter animals

Maurices, a Richland clothing store, will hold a dog oriented fashion show at 7 p.m. today at Bookwalter Winery in Richland.

The event is a fundraiser for shelter animals.

During Maurices Rescues & Runways, models will display clothing from the store while walking the runway with some of the dogs up for adoption from Ridge Dogs, a training program at Coyote Ridge Correctional Facility in Connell.

The Ridge Dogs program is a partnership between Tri-Cities Animal Shelter, the prison and Speak Dog. The program matches inmates with dogs from the shelter and provides them with training techniques.

The fashion show is free but those attending are asked to bring pet supplies or donate money to help promote pet adoptions.

There also will be a silent auction during the show.

Proceeds will go to A2Z Sheltering Services and the Ridge Dogs program.
