Dawson leaves Humane Society for Boys & Girls Clubs

Ed Dawson, operations manager for the Benton-Franklin Humane Society, will step down from his position at the end of August to join the Boys & Girls Clubs of Benton and Franklin Counties as director of development and communications.

The two agencies announced the move in a joint statement Friday.

"On behalf of the BFHS Board of Directors, we wish him only the very best," said Shannon Novakovich, the humane society's board president.

Dawson has run daily operations at the humane society's animal shelter for six years, been in charge of major fundraisers and led efforts to develop the society's new shelter in Kennewick.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Benton-Franklin Humane Society," he said. "But the timing was such that I felt I was ready for my next challenge, and that is what this opportunity at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Benton and Franklin Counties offers me."

Brian Ace, executive director of the local Boys & Girls Clubs, said Dawson embodies the nonprofit's principles of teamwork and stewardship.

Dawson is scheduled to start work Sept. 4 at the Boys & Girls Clubs.
