Pasco man cited for I-182 crash in Richland

A 37-year-old Pasco man is being blamed for a Friday afternoon wreck that snarled traffic into Richland when his vehicle struck the back of an SUV that was stopped with a flat tire.

Kyle B. French was cited for a "basic speed rule" because his inattentiveness caused the 1:02 p.m. crash, according to the Washington State Patrol.

A state patrol report said Elizabeth M. Quintero had left westbound Interstate 182 and was approaching George Washington Way when she stopped her 1998 GMC Suburban with a flat tire. The Suburban was blocking the right lane into Richland when it stopped.

French was in the right lane when his 2005 Toyota 4Runner struck the back of the SUV, the state patrol said. He was injured and taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland for treatment.

Quintero, 32, of Kennewick, was not injured.
