Rotary grant to provide books to at-risk children

A $4,000 grant from Rotary International will be used to provide books to local agencies serving at-risk, low income children.

Columbia Center Rotary and the Mid-Columbia Libraries will use the grant to provide books to Safe Harbor Family Support Center, My Friends' Place teen shelter, Vista Youth Center, Lakeview Trailer Park, several child care centers and four Boys & Girls Club centers, according to a news release.

Each location will have a deposit collection of books selected by officials at the Mid-Columbia Libraries for children to read while visiting.

Rotary District Gov. Michelle Lee and other officials will commemorate the grant by holding a special storytime at the Boys & Girls Club of Pasco when the books arrive today.
