Annual kiddie parade canceled this year

The annual kiddie parade held during the week of Water Follies was canceled this year because of a lack of participation, and organizers are unsure if the parade will return next year.

"We're very sad we're not having it this year," said Mark Howell, owner of Sandy's Trophies in Pasco and sponsor of the parade for several years. "We had so much fun with it each year."

The parade has coincided with Water Follies festivities for more than three decades, Howell said.

"We've had a great run, but the whole participation of the parade has changed," he said. "We used to have all the dance troupes take part, even day care groups would come and march in the parade. I get a little emotional knowing it couldn't happen this year."
