Pendleton files claim to avoid fire cleanup bill

PENDLETON -- The city of Pendleton filed a claim that seeks to have the family of a deceased business owner pay for environmental clean-up costs related to a fire.

Last summer's blaze destroyed a warehouse that belonged to Robert Hart, owner a pest control company who leased city property for more than 50 years.

Hart died several months after the fire, and he reportedly stored an abundance of chemicals in the warehouse, including some now banned.
