The Miss Tri-Cities Scholarship Program will roll out the red carpet for young women competing in two Broadway-themed pageants today and Saturday.
Dot Stewart, executive director of the program, said contestants began rehearsals Monday at Southridge High School's auditorium as staff set up the lighting, sound and stage.
Eight contestants will compete today in the Miss Tri-Cities Outstanding Teen pageant. Seven women will compete Saturday in the Miss Tri-Cities Pageant.
The pageants are official preliminaries to the Miss Washington and Miss America pageants and use the same evaluation criteria.
Kailee Dunn, 2011 Miss Tri-Cities and people's choice award winner at the Miss Washington Pageant, will star in the ceremony and help Kellye Cash, Miss America 1987, and host Richard Rogers. Also performing will be Janae Calaway, Miss Washington Outstanding Teen.
Tickets costs $20 per pageant, which will be at the high school, and $15 for the awards ceremony and reception ball, Saturday at the Tri-City County Club, 314 N. Underwood Court, Kennewick.
