Pacific Power is alerting Spanish-speaking customers that fraudulent callers are targeting them.
The utility says the scammers are trying to obtain personal information by telling the customers that they must submit a payment by phone for a late bill.
Pacific Power representatives always will have account numbers when they contact customers and will ask to verify the identify of the person with whom they are speaking, the company said in a news release. If customers have concerns about the validity of a call, they can call 888-221-7070.
The company asks anyone receiving a questionable call to try to gather as much information as possible and report the incident to Pacific Power and local police.
