Whether you like to play basketball, have a talent to showcase or want to strut your stuff in a parade, there's a Juneteenth event sure to appeal. The Pasco Juneteenth Community Council is organizing a variety of activities from June 13-17.
Juneteenth is celebrated by many blacks nationwide to mark the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation issued by President Lincoln in 1863. The entire community is invited to help celebrate.
The lineup of events is:

-- June 14 -- Family skate at the Richland Roller Rink, 6 p.m. For more information, or to buy advance tickets, call Ron Campbell, 545-4607.
-- June 15 -- Community Appreciation ceremony, talent and fashion show, free, 6 p.m. at the Martin Luther King Center in Pasco. To sign up, or for more information, call Gail Johnson, 302-7048.
-- June 16 -- Softball games at Kurtzman Park in Pasco, 9 a.m. To sign up, call Edmon Daniels, 547-9604.
Parade, all are welcome to drive, walk, ride and carry a banner for your organization, business or church. Participants will line up at 10 a.m. at Wehe and Broadway streets, next to Whittier Elementary School in Pasco. The parade begins at 11 a.m. To sign up, call Cecilia Randolph at 302-1027.
At noon, there will be a free music festival at Kurtzman Park.
-- June 17 -- Free Gospelfest, 4 p.m., Martin Luther King Center, Pasco.
Food and craft vendors can sign up to sell their wares at the softball games and music festival on June 16 at Kurtzman Park. Booth fee is $50; informational and non-profit groups are free.
