The 2012 irrigation season for the Mid-Columbia got off to a soggy start this week as wet weather added to the canal systems that began to fill up from Moses Lake to Kennewick this week.
The Kennewick Irrigation District began spilling water drawn from the Yakima River at the Chandler Pumping Station on Tuesday, the same day KID's approximately 21,000 customers started receiving their summer irrigation bills in the mail.
Flows in the main canal should reach system capacities by Tuesday, when water will begin filling other parts of the distribution system.
The Badger East Canal and the Highland Canal are expected to see water by next weekend. Some KID customers might have pressurized water starting April 9, with the rest of the district receiving water by April 16.
A complete schedule of KID's water deliveries is available at kid.org.
