Judge Craig Matheson has denied a motion to reconsider his dismissal of a lawsuit brought by a Hanford whistleblower against Bechtel National in Benton County Superior Court.
Walter Tamosaitis plans to either appeal to the Washington State Court of Appeals or to petition the Washington State Supreme Court for a direct review, said his attorney, Jack Sheridan.
Tamosaitis filed the lawsuit saying that Bechtel had improperly interfered with his employment with its subcontractor, URS, at the Hanford vitrification plant. Tamosaitis, the former research and technology director at the plant, believes Bechtel wanted him off the project for raising concerns about the safe operations of the $12.2 billion plant.
Bechtel and URS have denied that. Bechtel has said the move had been in the works for some time before Tamosaitis sent a disrespectful email.
Matheson did not explain his reasoning in his written order in January dismissing the lawsuit or in his recent denial of the motion for reconsideration.
