Nuclear energy official to speak in Richland

The Department of Energy's assistant secretary for nuclear energy will speak Jan. 17 in Richland.

Peter B. Lyons will discuss "Federal Research, Development and Demonstration Priorities in Nuclear Energy" at a meeting of the Eastern Washington Section of the American Nuclear Society.

Lyons, assistant secretary since April, serves as the primary policy adviser to Energy Secretary Steven Chu on nuclear energy research and international nuclear activities.

There is no cost to attend his talk at 7 p.m. at the Shilo Inn. Those who want to attend the chapter dinner meeting at 6 p.m. will be charged $22 and should make reservations by calling 366-9632 or emailing ans.ews.treasurer@gmail. com.
