OPERATION THANK YOU: Wounded soldier to be honored today in Kennewick

KENNEWICK -- The public is invited to a welcome home gathering for wounded Sgt. Joshua Elliott of Yakima from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Round Table Pizza, 3300 W. Clearwater Ave., Kennewick.

Elliott is the nephew of Washington Operation Thank You member Renee Slocumb of West Richland.

He lost both legs, most of his left hand and sustained multiple other injuries when he stepped on an improvised explosive device in Afghani-stan in April. He is stationed in San Diego and will be home for the holidays.

Operation Thank You will have a welcome home ceremony at 3 p.m.

If unable to attend the ceremony, organizers encourage people to drop by any time until 6 p.m. to thank Elliott for his service.
