City Market in Kennewick robbed at gunpoint

City Market in Kennewick was robbed Monday evening, and police are looking for a suspect.

The store at 415 S. Rainier St. was robbed at gunpoint at 8:55 p.m.

The suspect is 5-foot-8 or 5-foot-9 and weighed 160 to 170 pounds.

He wore a blue Aeropostale sweatshirt with the hood up and a blue baseball cap. A red bandana covered his face, and he was wearing dark-colored pants.

He also was wearing gloves. The suspect was last seen walking west toward the Kennewick Housing Authority units.

He stole an undisclosed amount of cash.

Kennewick men arrested near Bend with meth

Two Kennewick men were arrested Monday near Bend, Ore., when Oregon State Patrol officers discovered 4 pounds of meth during a traffic stop.

Miranda Garcia, 31, and Palafox Cortes, 35, were arrested just after midnight Monday after their 1998 Nissan Maxima was stopped for a traffic violation.

Garcia was driving.

A drug-detection dog helped OSP officers discover $40,000 in methamphetamine hidden in a speaker box in the car's trunk. A small amount of cocaine also was found, OSP reported.

The two were booked into Deschutes County Jail and face charges of manufacturing, possessing and distributing methamphetamine, as well as possessing cocaine.

Grandview police arrest man in shooting death

Grandview police arrested a 19-year-old man Monday in connection with the shooting death of 18-year-old Mariano Cuevas on Saturday night.

Police are not releasing the name of the suspect at this time, nor are they giving any details about the shooting or how he was arrested, according to a Grandview police news release.

A number of officers worked on the case from the outset, which led to the arrest, and more information may be released to the public today, the release said.

The shooting took place about 8 p.m. in the 600 block of East Second Street. Witnesses reported seeing a suspect running from the scene, police said.

A police dog unit from Sunnyside and officers from Prosser and Mabton, as well as Benton County sheriff's deputies helped search the area.
