Group gives 350 shoes to Afghan children

About 350 shoes are heading to children in Afghanistan after a shoe drive held by Windermere Group One/Tri-Cities.

The Richland real estate business learned that children learning English from military doctors in Afghanistan were in need of shoes.

The goal was to collect 100 pairs of new or gently used children's shoes to ship to the Kandahar Air Base just in time for Christmas.

The Dress family, who own Ranch & Home, donated almost 200 pairs of new shoes.

Several dozen pairs of socks were collected as well.

The Group One office also will sponsor two Tri-City families for Christmas.
