4 injured in 2-car crash Tuesday in Mattawa

MATTAWA -- Four people were injured in a two-car accident at 6:20 a.m. Tuesday morning on Highway 243 in Mattawa.

Mario Vicente Tomas, 30, of Sunnyside was driving a 1998 Honda Accord west on Road 24 when he stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Highway 243.

He reportedly pulled out in front of a Ford Ranger pickup traveling northon Highway 243, theWashington State Patrol reported. The vehicles collided in the southbound lane.

Two passengers in Tomas' car, Cesar Dominguezcorcuera, 28, and Alejandro Santiago, 36, both of Mattawa, were injured and taken to area hospitals, as was Kevin Jorgensen, 28, of Yakima, the driver of the 1988 Ranger, the state patrol reported.

Tomas was cited for failure to yield.
