Best-selling author will speak in Richland today

Garth Stein, best-selling author of The Art of Racing in the Rain, will visit the Richland Public Library today.

Stein's visit is part of the kick-off of a monthlong celebration of reading through October.

Copies of his book will be available for purchase and signing at the event.

The event is from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Doris Roberts Gallery, 955 Northgate Drive, Richland.

The Seattle author also will appear at a meet-and-greet at 3:45 p.m., where he will be available to talk to children who have read the children's version of his book called Racing in the Rain: My Life as a Dog.

The two books tell the story of dog philosopher Enzo, who educates himself by watching TV and listening to his race car driver owner.
