On this day: Oct. 16, 1956

Johnnie Smith, 16, and his brother Stubby (Charles), 13, of Pasco attended their second World Series game in New York City alone. They earned the money for the trip by working in their father's store, the Richland Y grocery. They stayed at the YMCA and rode subways. Next year they plan to take their brother, Mike, who's 6 years old.
