West Richland citizen's academy begins Oct. 12

West Richland residents wanting to find out more about how their police department is run can sign up for the West Richland Police Citizens Academy.

The eight-week academy, which meets from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. each Wednesday night beginning Oct. 12, provides first-hand knowledge and front-line experiences.

Attendees will learn about police operations, domestic violence, special investigations, gang information and use of force.

Registration forms are available online at westrichland.org, then go to department, police and programs. They also can be picked up at the police station.

Deadline to sign up is Sept. 30. For more information, call Officer Natalie Griffin at 967-3425 or email ngriffin@westrichland.org.
