A Moses Lake man died Thursday after falling into an irrigation canal near Moses Lake.
The drowning was reported at 1:15 a.m. in the 13500 block of North Frontage Road East, which is southeast of Moses Lake, said Grant County Undersheriff Dave Ponozzo.
Investigators learned that two men were in a car on the canal service road and the car got stuck when they tried to turn around.
The men then left the car to try to get help.

While walking along the canal road, one of the men fell in, Ponozzo said.
His friend tried to rescue him, but the victim was swept downstream by the current.
The victim's body was recovered by sheriff's search and rescue divers at 3:20 a.m.
The drowning appears to be a terrible accident, Ponozzo said.
The Grant County coroner has scheduled an autopsy for today. The victim's name was not yet released.
