Students in Basin City have their first day of school today -- a day later than elementary students elsewhere in the North Franklin School District.
Basin City Elementary kids were told to stay home Monday after tests of a community well found contaminated water.
Staff spent the day setting up the school so that kids can't get to any unboiled tap water, said Superintendent Gregg Taylor.
They shut off all faucets, distributed hand sanitizer and told kitchen workers to boil water used to wipe down cafeteria tables, Taylor said.

E.coli bacteria was detected in the well last week, said state officials. Coliform bacteria was found throughout the town's distribution system.
Town residents have been urged to boil water used for drinking, brushing teeth, food preparation, ice and washing dishes.
