HAPO Community Credit Union announced Friday it will become the permanent sponsor of the annual golf tournament fundraiser for the Tri-Cities Cancer Center.
The event is being renamed the HAPO Golf Classic Supporting the Tri-Cities Cancer Center Foundation.
"We believe in the cancer center," said HAPO CEO Dave Schulz. "It shares the same values as the staff of HAPO."
The 21st annual tournament took place Friday with 132 players on 33 teams and run by 30 volunteers. Proceeds go toward cancer support services, including for people who are not covered by insurance.

The goal for the 2011 tournament was to raise $65,000.
Tom Cothran, the cancer center's executive director, said HAPO's sponsorship covers a portion of the tournament's costs, meaning more of the money raised can go directly to patient services.
