Lightning raises threat of fire in Mid-Columbia

The Mid-Columbia is under a red flag fire warning until 9 a.m. today because of the possibility of lightning strikes. The warning began at 8 p.m. Thursday.

However, in the Tri-Cities, the forecast called for just a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms or brief showers Thursday until 11 a.m. today.

Today could be slightly cooler in the Tri-Cities, with a high today of 94 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
