Mandatory youth public service to be debated

Kennewick Police Chief Ken Hohenberg and Art King, a community leader and volunteer, will face off on the topic of mandatory public service for American youth.

The two will discuss whether young people should be required to invest time in public service, whether service should be restricted to the government or military, and if there should be a private sector option for service.

The Columbia Basin Badger Club forum on June 24 starts at 11:30 a.m. at the Country Gentleman in Kennewick, and is open to everyone. Only club members may ask questions of the panelists.

Cost is $20 and includes a buffet lunch. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 736-1979 or emailing rsvp@columbiabasin badgers.com. The deadline is Tuesday.
