There should be enough water this summer in the Yakima River Basin, including irrigation districts with customers in Benton and Franklin counties.
The Bureau of Reclamation announced Thursday that the water supply available for May 2011 indicates full supplies for senior and junior water rights.
Chuck Garner, Yakima Project River Operations supervisor, said water managers can expect a normal to above normal water supply this season, thanks to above average snowpack and reservoir levels in early May.
The water supply forecast will be updated each month through July, but specific water delivery levels will not be set until later in the year when storage begins to decline.
Garner said that the timing of the snowmelt and summer weather and irrigation demands still are important. And he advised water users to use their water prudently.
