After two days of interviews and evaluations, the search for the next Richland police chief has been narrowed down to three police.
The finalists are Scott Bieber, a Vancouver Police Department commander; David Frazer, a retired officer from Rohnert Park, Calif.; and Chris Skinner, assistant chief of the Hillsboro, Ore., Police Department.
Richland City Manager Cindy Johnson now plans to make a visit to each candidate's hometowns.
"This was a good process that gave us three finalists," Johnson said. "I look forward to my on-site visits as we complete the search for our new police chief."
A Seattle consulting firm, Waldron & Co., has been hired to help with the selection process.
Initially 26 candidates applied, 11 were interviewed and five were in town Tuesday and Wednesday to meet with city officials and community leaders.
City officials hope to have a new police chief on board by mid-May.
Capt. Mike Cobb has been serving as interim chief since Chief Tony Corsi retired in January.
