Washington's studded tire deadline has been extended one week.
Drivers must now remove their studded tires by the end of the day April 7.
The Washington State Department of Transportation extended the studded tire deadline Friday because forecasts call for possible winter driving conditions across the mountain passes and higher-elevation areas in Eastern Washington.
"While we've extended the deadline, we're asking drivers who live in lower elevations to remove their studded tires before April 7," said Chris Christopher, WSDOT director of maintenance operations.
WSDOT officials remain concerned about safety issues and roadway damage from studded tires.
Crews will continue clearing the passes, however, those traveling into the higher elevations should always prepare for winter driving conditions.
