Those who make it a point to gather driftwood during the high water season on the Columbia River are jubilant as, for the past two years, the river has not raised sufficiently to bring any drift down and many Richland residents have been compelled to buy wood last winter for the first time in years. Residents are now watching the river closely to make sure no logs get past them.
