A Utah group will perform sacred hymns -- familiar ones, overlooked ones, even Hank Williams hymns -- during a Saturday concert in Burbank.
The Lower Lights' music has been described as a "vibrant collection of hymns that bring out both the reverence and celebration of sacred music," said Marilyn Lott, a sponsor of the live hymn revival.
Lott, a Burbank stay-at-home mom, blogs about all kinds of music on her Tri-City-based the website Passionista Presents.
"I've always dreamed of bringing great musicians to this area and I am really excited about this one," she said. "The Lower Lights are a group of musicians from Utah, from various faiths, who record (and perform live) hymns. The result is a beautiful revival of beloved hymns."
The Lower Lights concert starts at 7 p.m. Saturday at Columbia High School, 787 Maple St., Burbank.
Admission is $15 for ages 13 and older and $12 for ages 5 to 12. Group rates also are available.
Some of the songs to be performed include The Lord is My Shepherd, This Little Light of Mine, Swing Low, Sweet Chariot and Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me.
"I am a music fanatic," Lott admits. "I have played the piano most of my life and grew up in a home where music played a very big role. A few years ago I started the blog where I write about family life, raising children and of course, music."
