County group officially joins Constitution Party

The Constitution Party of Adams-Benton-Franklin Counties on Saturday became an officially organized affiliate of the Constitution Party of Washington.

The group met at the Mid-Columbia Library's Kennewick branch, 1620 S. Union St. That's also where the state committee of the Constitution Party of Washington will meet April 16, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Mary Ruth Edwards, chairman of the newly affiliated group, said it will be "an historic event" because it will be the first time Kennewick has played host to the Constitution Party. The event is open to the public.

The party is dedicated to defending "the principles enshrined in the United States Constitution and the moral values of the republic of our forefathers," according to a news release.
