On Sunday morning, Kennewick police issued an update on the Steptoe collision. Sgt. Ken Lattin reported the accident occurred at 2:51 p.m. Saturday.
The motorcycle was driving northbound on Steptoe at Arrowhead by Joshua Gibbs, 20, of Richland. It involved in hitting a car driven west on Arrowhead turning left onto Steptoe by Jana Page, 58 and of Kennewick.
Speed might be a factor in the collision, but the incident is still under investigation. Gibbs reportedly suffered a broken leg and perhaps a broken wrist. He was transported to Kennewick General Hospital for treatment.
The wreck on Steptoe forced Kennewick police, with assistance from Richland officers, to close the northbound lanes of Steptoe from Gage Boulevard for several hours while they investigated.
Traffic also was backed up in the westbound lanes of Gage toward the Columbia Center mall.
