Another outage in the phone system at Benton County Emergency Services affected a nonemergency number used by county residents near Prosser for several hours Friday.
The outage meant residents seeking to contact Benton County sheriff's deputies through the nonemergency dispatch line had to make a long-distance call to 509-628-0333 instead of calling 786-2112, said emergency services spokeswoman Sara Schwartz.
The line also went down Jan. 21 for five days because of a conflict with the internal phone system, Schwartz said.
The reason for Friday's outage was not known, but it was working again by 5:30 p.m.
