Candlelight vigils were planned Saturday night to honor slain correctional employee Jayme Lee Biendl.
Correctional officers, their families and other supporters were scheduled to gather about 10:30 p.m. at the Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla and the Coyote Ridge Correctional Complex in Connell.
Biendl, of Granite Falls, was strangled Jan. 29 at the Monroe Correctional Complex when she was on duty alone in the chapel. Contributions for her memorial service can be made to "In Memory of Jayme Biendl" at any Union Bank, formerly known as Frontier Bank.
