Peralta is a member of the Benton/Franklin United Way Board of Directors.
He was named to board position No. 1, formerly filled by Pete Felsted, who resigned Jan. 25 for personal reasons.
After interviewing three candidates, the board chose Peralta to serve out Felsted's term, which ends in December.
Peralta will have to run in the November election if he wants to continue to serve on the board.
