Airport leader Morasch still listed as 'serious'

Tri-Cities Airport director Jim Morasch, who was hurt in a head-on crash Wednesday, remains in serious condition in the intensive care unit at a Seattle hospital.

Morasch, 68, of Pasco, has been at Harborview Medical Center, where he was flown after the early-morning crash on Taylor Flats Road in north Franklin County.

He suffered multiple broken bones and is said to be making "steady, slow progress" and working to regain strength so he can undergo surgery, according to a Sunday journal entry on a CaringBridge website, which lets patients and their family post updates.

Rafael Santiago Cruz, 36, of Richland, died in the accident after he apparently lost control of his pickup on a patch of ice and slammed into Morasch's car.
