Ki-Be kids can learn to fly model planes Sunday

BENTON CITY -- Students in the Kiona-Benton City School District can learn to fly radio-controlled model airplanes, free, from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday in the middle school multi-purpose room.

Members of the Model Aircraft Association of Tri-Cities will supply small, fully functional indoor aircraft, both fixed wing and helicopters, and flight training. There also will be a computer-based flight simulator program available.

The training aircraft were partially paid for by a grant from the Benton City Economic Development Council, through the Horizons project, a Washington State University Extension initative for small rural communities with poverty rates of at least 10 percent.

The room is provided by the school district at a nominal cost to the association.
