Former NPR reporter to speak in Tri-Cities

Naseem Rakha, an award-winning author and former National Public Radio journalist, will be in the Tri-Cities on Saturday.

She is speaking at 1:15 p.m. at Temple Beth Shalom synagogue, 312 Thayer Drive, Richland. At 6:30 p.m., she will attend an interfaith potluck at the Islamic Center of the Tri-Cities, 2900 Bombing Range Road, West Richland. The potluck is open to all. Bring a dish to share.

At 4 p.m., Rakha will be at Adventures Underground bookstore to sign copies of her book, The Crying Tree.

She wrote the book after meeting a woman who had forgiven the man who brutally murdered her daughter. Rakha asked, how do people forgive the unforgivable, and what happens to them once they do? She wrote the book through the eyes of a family torn apart by the murder of their son.
