Dr. Lewis Zirkle of the Surgical Insert Generation Network in Richland, has been appointed as a clinical professor in the University of Washington's Department of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine.
Zirkle's work in promoting quality health care around the world with SIGN designed intramedullary nail used in repairing broken bones was praised by Dr. Jens R. Chapman, professor and acting chair of the Department of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine.
Zirkle, who founded SIGN as a humanitarian organization in 1999, also volunteers to train surgeons around the world on the SIGN orthopedic implant system.
