The deadline to enter the Mid-Columbia Symphony's Young Artist Competition is Friday.
The competition is set Jan. 22 at Central United Protestant Church, 1124 Stevens Drive, Richland.
Eligible students must reside within the Mid-Columbia, including Benton, Franklin, Walla Walla, Adams, Grant, Columbia, Klickitat and Yakima counties, or Umatilla and Morrow counties in Oregon.
The annual competition aims to promote and encourage talented student musicians from ages 6 through high school. There are three divisions: primary (for ages 6-10), intermediate (11-13), and senior (14 through high school).

Students compete in three categories: piano, strings and other instruments (wind, brass and percussion).
The two overall winners will perform with the Mid-Columbia Symphony's spring concert March 26. More information is online at www.midcolumbiasymphony .org/education.htm or call 943-6602. There is a $50 entry fee.
