A 59-year-old man was taken for a psychological evaluation Friday after threatening to kill himself and shooting himself twice in his shoulder, according to the Yakima County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies responded to a report of a suicidal subject in the 13000 block of Wide Hollow Road at 1 p.m. They found the man in a van in the middle of a pasture. The man ignored police commands. Deputies waited until he dropped his small-caliber handgun and took the man into custody.
He was not seriously injured, and no charges are expected, according to the Sheriff's Office.
