Mid-Columbia lawmakers will be representing the region on Senate committees governing policy related to agriculture, economic development, energy, the environment, labor, transportation and state spending.
Sen. Mike Hewitt, R-Walla Walla, again will serve as minority leader, and also will sit on the Senate Rules and Ways and Means committees, Republicans announced Wednesday.
Fellow Republican Sens. Jim Honeyford of Sunnyside and Mark Schoesler of Ritzville also will serve on Ways and Means, which oversees the Senate versions of the state budget.
Honeyford's other committee assignment is as the ranking Republican on the Environment, Water and Energy Committee. He also will serve as deputy Republican floor leader during the session.

In addition to Ways and Means, Schoesler was assigned to the Agriculture and Rural Economic Development Committee. He will serve as Republican floor leader in the Senate.
Sen. Jerome Delvin, R-Richland, is the ranking Republican on the agriculture committee, and also will serve on the Transportation Committee and the environment committee.
Delvin was elected deputy Republican whip by the caucus.
Sen. Jana Holmquist Newbry, R-Moses Lake, is the ranking Republican on the Labor, Commerce and Consumer Protection committee. She also will serve on the Economic Development, Trade and Innovation Committee and the environment committee.
Committee assignments are for the 2011 and 2012 sessions.
The 2011 legislative session starts Jan. 10.
