You can bring your canine buddy to the next New Year's Day run, but he won't get a special race -- not until springtime.
The annual Thunder Run, a 5K foot race on the Big Cross course in Pasco, will not include the Pooch and Pal category this year. There will be just one race at 9:30 a.m.Saturday.
The special race for runners and the dogs they love was held for 10 years, with 50 or 60 dogs entered each year, said race director Bill Leahy.
But other towns' doggie races draw thousands of entries. "We're going to run it in the spring to get better exposure," he said. "The weather this time of year limits demand."
