Family seeking help to pay for Pasco woman's funeral

A Pasco woman was killed in a car accident in Mexico on Christmas Eve, and her brother is trying to raise money for her funeral costs.

Paula Dennise Leon, 21, was killed instantly in the Friday wreck, according to her brother, Cesar Martinez.

Martinez said his sister was a talented artist who created artwork for some of his music CD cases.

The Pasco High School graduate was visiting family in Guadalajara, Mexico, with her mother, Gloria Muniz Acevedo, 53, also of Pasco.

Acevedo, who works at Unitech Services in Richland, was not in the wreck.

Martinez said Paula and her uncle had gone to pick up her grandmother on Christmas Eve when her uncle swerved to avoid hitting an oncoming car.

His truck flipped, killing Leon and injuring himself and her grandmother.

His grandmother died Sunday, Martinez said. And his uncle remains in critical condition in a Mexican hospital.

The family is planning to start an account to raise money to help pay for bringing his sister's body back from Mexico and for the funeral costs.

Bruce Lee Memorial Chapel in Pasco is handling the arrangements.
