HERMISTON -- The Hermiston Public Library will be changing the computer software used to operate the library catalog, check out books and other library materials, and interface with the library database.
The library will be closed Wednesday to do staff training on the new software and finalize the integration and transition to the new Evergreen integrated library system (ILS) software.
Cost reduction is one of the most significant reasons the system is changing. The new Evergreen system provides improved and modernized services that result from the system having been developed by librarians who understand the needs of the libraries and its patrons.
