KENNEWICK -- A Kennewick police officer was not injured when his patrol car was hit Saturday, but the driver of the other car was taken to jail.
Officer Rick Marquette was on patrol and driving north on Garfield Street at 1st Avenue at 6:37 p.m. He had entered the intersection when he was hit by a car traveling west that failed to stop at a red light, according to police reports.
The driver's side front corner of the car driven by Merced Alonso-Solano, 30, of Pasco, hit the passenger side front corner of the patrol car, according to police reports.
Alonso-Solano was traveling at a low speed.

Although Marquette was not injured, he was taken to Kennewick General Hospital because of chest pains and later released.
Alonso-Solano also was not injured, he was booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion of driving without a license or identification and on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement investigative hold.
He also was cited for failing to stop at a red light and having no insurance, according to police. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the collision.
