Washington State University plans to announce a major gift to the school today.
News conferences are scheduled around the state, including at the branch campus in Richland, to accept a donation for its new School for Global Animal Health, which studies diseases that move from animals to humans.
The amount of the gift and the donor have not been released.
Also, the school's Board of Regents plans a special meeting today to endorse a $1 billion fundraising campaign, the largest in school history. The board also will deal with the transfer of funds for the Ruckelshaus Center, which works to find collaborative approaches to solve the region's problems.
